FAQs About The BSBC8P-10A High Voltage DC Contactor
Q1: Does C8-10a high voltage dc contactor require polarity alignment during installation?
A2: No. Both the load and coil circuits are non-polar.
Q2: Can this relay be used for string-level disconnect in 1500V PV systems?
A2: Yes. The C8P-10 supports up to 1500VDC and is suitable for auxiliary or signal circuit switching at that voltage level.
Q3: Is it suitable for continuous high-frequency switching?
A3: While rated for 10,000–20,000 operations depending on voltage, this relay is optimized for infrequent but high-reliability switching.
Q4: How many installation methods are available for this product?
A4: This product offers plug-in and welded installation methods.
Precautions for Use
To ensure safe, stable, and long-term operation of the C8P-10A high voltage DC contactor, please follow the instructions below:
Mechanical Installation
-
Always use flat and spring washers during installation to prevent loosening.
-
When using M5 screws, maintain a tightening torque of 3–4 N·m to avoid deformation and cracking of the housing.
-
The maximum allowable force for terminal insertion or removal is:
-
Load terminals: 49N
-
Coil terminals: 49N Exceeding this may cause damage.
-
Wiring and Soldering
-
Use wires ≥2 mm² for all connections.
-
Manual Soldering: 380 ± 20°C for 3–5 seconds
-
Wave Soldering: 265 ± 5°C for 3–5 seconds
-
Do not allow grease or foreign matter on the terminals to prevent localized overheating.
Electrical Load Handling
-
For inductive loads (L/R ≥1ms), always use parallel surge suppression devices (e.g., TVS or varistors) to protect the contactor from premature failure.
-
For capacitive loads, implement a pre-charge circuit, and limit the closing voltage difference to ≤20V to avoid contact welding.
-
For models without economizer, do not use diodes as coil suppressors. Use varistors or TVS instead, as diodes significantly increase release time and reduce disconnection performance.
Environmental Conditions
-
Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
-
Avoid prolonged use above rated temperature, as internal gas pressure may rise and affect contact performance.
-
Do not install the relay near strong magnetic fields (e.g., transformers or magnets) to avoid electrical interference.
-
Do not install near heat sources (e.g., fuses, shunts), as this may cause excessive heating at the contact ends.
Handling and Storage
-
Avoid storing the contactor in locations with corrosive gas or direct sunlight.
-
Storage temperature: -40°C to +85°C
-
Humidity range: 5%–85% RH
-
Shelf life: 12 months in original packaging
-
Do not reuse the contactor if dropped, even if no visible damage is present.
Compliance and Responsibility
-
BSB products are RoHS compliant.
-
All performance data are based on standard test conditions and are initial values.
-
It is the customer’s responsibility to select the appropriate product for their specific application. Contact BSB for support if needed.
-
BSB reserves the right to make changes; confirm the specification before ordering.
